Nickname: guy           Budgeting Since: 09/06/2009 Budeting tips, how guy is saving money: stop using credit card, only cash , go shopping once a week, invite friends to our house - don't go out lillyn: we've gone for the government credit card relief program, are saving over half of what we owed and will be totally out of debt in 36 months. Signed a contract with the company with all fees, etc. written out, agreed to pay by monthly debit by them and all will be well by the end. When medical expenses went up drastically, I went to consollidate (on disability) and was told to file bankruptsy (sp) I did and it will take 7 years to clear credit; but again everything went up 31/2 years before the Recession..so the money saved from credit cards is used for everyday living. I use no plastic. If you are on SSI or SSDI go to a debt consolidator..there is a guideline they use.  04/04/2010 04:06 kerrie: I bank with a credit union and took out 1 loan to pay off all of my credit cards, my highest credit card interest rate was 13% and my loan with the credit union interest rate is 6.4%... i payed off all of my cards MUCH faster this way and didn't feel as guilty about spending so much on interest  24/03/2010 05:15 gottasave: kristi: Great, fantastic idea. If it isnt on the list to spend it can come out of the persons spend money that wants it. Or if an emergency it can come out of that fund. We do the old ENVELOPE method. Anything that isnt a bill that needs to be sent goes in an envelope in our safe. The only money that stays in bank is for bills. Not groceries or gas ect. We use cash for all of our spending. That way you cant go over!  16/01/2010 01:57 jo-jo: I agree, but it is so hard to budget if it is only one out of a couple who wants to.  11/01/2010 17:56 Christy: Something I tried to ensure my bills got paid before I over spent was to have automtic payment withdrawal set up for the days I got paid. This was money was gone before I could use. It really forced me to become more diciplined, the change to receiving my salary only once a month vs. weekly/bi-weekly was also a great help.
