Helena: I like it. It will help me see what I'm really doing with my money. I would like my husband to use it too.
 

What made you want to use a budgeting software (personal budget planner):
Helena: Having surgery and needing to know how I intend to spend money for the next two months so I can pay my part of the house bills.
 

Leave the credit card at home, start using cash:
Helena: I did do this before the surgery. The only thing that goes on my monthly credit card is my rogers bill so I don't forget to pay it. I'm getting better at managing my debt. Now I am only paying with bills and the change is going into a jar to pay for my house insurance in April.

Helena: I agree. I'm starting to attack a debt for physical training because it's the highest interest at 6%. In August it was $3000, now it's at $1600. I transfered the amount to a lower line of credit and am targeting that now. I'm not putting anything else on my credit card until that's gone so I don't keep the viscious circle going on with charging the card and then switching the amount to my line of credit.   09/09/2009 01:05

Helena: I think you still need to keep one just in case of an emergency until you have built an emergency fund. I tend to use mine for online purchases, but I keep those to a minimum too.   09/09/2009 01:03

Helena: I used to freeze my credit cards too....sometimes I found myself trying to do a quick un-freeze. Now I've just changed my philosophy about credit cards. Keep it open for big surprise expenses and that's it. It really makes me happier to see it at zero.   09/09/2009 01:01

Helena: Make a list. If your issue is with cheap prices at Target, stop shopping there and avoid the place completely. Ask someone to do the errand you need and give them the money for that one item. Perhaps look into the deeper reasons why you are being a shop-a-holic or doing brainless spending....sort of like brainless eating....isn't it?   09/09/2009 00:48

Helena: Throw away the junk mail that advertises them so you minimize your cravings. Leave your money and plastic at home if you are running an errand, or only carry enough cash to do your errand so you can't go to the fast food place.   09/09/2009 00:46

Helena: On Sundays make a family meal plans for the week, get the kids ideas, and then shop on Sunday to get what you need for the week. Prepack easy snacks. Make a list of what needs to be purchased in a week for anything and don't buy anything that isn't on the list. If an event is coming up, agree to an amount that you can spend ahead of time on what you will spend on the gift.   09/09/2009 00:44
