What made you want to use a budgeting software (personal budget planner):
msebonip: I am getting married in 5 months and my finances are shot, I figured in order for me to save the money for the wedding, I needed to budget our money better, to see where its going.
 

Leave the credit card at home, start using cash:
msebonip: I learned a long time ago that credit cards arent good, so I have none now, I have debit cards, which dont let me spend more than I have. And I have different ones for different uses, one for fun, one for expenses, and one for emergencies

gadi: I've noticed that many people say that the most stupid thing they spend money on is cigarettes. I used to smoke also, so i know how hard it is to quit (and how much money you spend..) . i hope the next tip will be useful... it took me a long time to understand that if i want to quit smoking i have to understand why i am smoking - what exactly is giving me the urge to smoke. I am guessing that everyone have a different reason to smoke. I've found out the main reason i was smoking is (and i know it's stupid) that it makes me feel cool.
